The Integration and Test Engineer oversees and ensures the timely integration and verification of sophisticated products such as RADAR, Electronic Warfare (EW), Electro Optical (EO), and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) sensors. Integration and Test is involved throughout the product and program lifecycle from proposals, requirements, design, modeling & simulation, environmental and flight test to the delivery and operation & maintenance of fielded systems. This individual works in a dynamic people-focused environment where he or she interacts with users, customers, and other developers.
The Integration and Test Engineer performs hands-on testing of sophisticated RF sensor systems, including both hardware and software components. System environmental tests may include thermal vacuum, vibration, electro-magnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The engineer is responsible for performing analyses of test results and preparing reports. He or she is also expected to plan and lead daily I&T activities, provide technical direction to a team, and manage and prioritize asset utilization. This position acts as a liaison between program, engineering, and functional management.
The engineer should have experience writing technical specifications, test plans and procedures, and know how to use requirements management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS. Configuration management is of equal importance, so he or she should also have a working knowledge of configuration management tools e.g. IBM Rational ClearQuest and ClearCase.
The successful Integration and Test Engineer has hands-on experience in a lab environment, and is familiar with electrical interfaces and protocols. He or she is responsible for the setup, operation and automated (scripted) control of RF test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, amplifiers, meters, and antennas. A working knowledge of software scripting tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or Tool Control Language (Tcl/Tk) would be a benefit.
Basic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or other related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) curriculum. Candidates for senior positions should have at least 10 years of relevant experience (seven years with Master of Science Degree) with five years of experience in the integration and test environment and some experience in leading/managing tasks, projects, and/or people.
Because of the sensitive nature of some technical applications, the Integration and Test Engineer should either have, or can obtain, a DOD Top Secret clearance. Other clearance requirements include a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access, and a Counter-Terrorism (CI) polygraph.
