Dane Egli, PhD Named Chief Strategy Officer

image00Dr. Dane Egli has been appointed to the position of Chief Strategy Officer of Odyssey Consulting, Inc. He will be responsible for establishing and executing a comprehensive strategic plan to carry out the long-term goals of the company. He will report directly to the CEO and provide actionable, quantitative plans to support the company’s key strategic initiatives.

Most recently Dr. Egli has been a senior advisor for National Security Strategies at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, focused on Homeland Security, Critical Infrastructure Resilience, Cyber and Maritime Security.

From 2004-2006 he served at the White House on the National Security Council staff as a Director for Counterterrorism and Global Counternarcotics, and was senior advisor to President George W. Bush on hostage rescue and global counternarcotics policy.

During a 33-year Coast Guard career, he served on six cutters in operational assignments conducting search & rescue and maritime law enforcement missions. He also served at US NORTHCOM as a senior advisor to the Combatant Commander (2006-2008). In the private sector (2008-2011), he was a senior systems engineer and business consultant for Integrity Applications Inc., Naval Research Laboratory, and several Fortune 100 Companies.

He is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business and Whiting School of Engineering; Distinguished Professor at the Colorado Technical University in Homeland Security Studies; and adjunct professor at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs for Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, and Cyber Security.

Dr. Egli is a native of Danville, Pennsylvania and graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 1979, earning a Bachelor of Science degree (with honors) in Civil Engineering. He received graduate degrees from George Washington University and National Defense University, a doctoral degree from University of Colorado (Denver) and is a distinguished graduate of the Naval War College.

He is the author of “Beyond the Storms: Strengthening Homeland Security and Disaster Management to Achieve Resilience,” published in 2014. He regularly appears on ABC, CNN, FOX News, Al Jazeera America, C-SPAN, and NPR to address the current war on terrorism, homeland security, emerging threats, and hostage rescue policy.
