SATELLITE 2018 Conference Gathers Aerospace Community

The 2018 SATELLITE conference and exhibition was held March 12-15, 2018 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Odyssey Consulting staff joined over 14,500 aerospace professionals to discuss the latest innovations in remote sensing and communication technology. For more than 35 years, the conference has brought together industry executives, government officials, entrepreneurs and satellite enthusiasts from more than 100 nations around the world.

Maxar Technologies CEO Howard Lance, a keynote speaker, shared how Maxar has unlocked the power of four market-leading space brands with end-to-end advanced systems capabilities and integrated solutions expertise. He addressed the opportunities that he sees for industry growth in this new space renaissance and why now is the right time for a vertically integrated company focused on helping customers address their most mission-critical challenges. The new space economy is expected to become a $1.1 trillion market by 2040. As capital is deployed more efficiently and technologies converge, demand for data and insights is growing and global IP traffic is projected to be about 60 times what it is now in the next 20 years. Companies that can provide commercially driven technology innovation will be well-positioned to accelerate and lead the new space economy.

Key sessions from the Imagery and Sensing Forum discussed industry’s insatiable demand for environmental data. Janet Nickloy, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Harris Corporation joined John Serafini, CEO of Hawkeye 360 and other panelists to discuss how satellite imagery and sensing provides an impressive set of data analytics tools that are helping businesses and industries make smarter, more informed decisions about their day-to-day operations and their future growth strategies.
